Academic Achievement
What is Academic Achievement?
The Latino Honor Society proudly recognizes and nourishes the academic achievements of its members. Although Latinos at the university level are smaller in number, we seek to cultivate the importance of serving as academic scholars in whichever field our students ultimately pursue. Members are expected maintain a minimum 3.25 semester GPA to be considered an Active Member in LHS.
How can LHS help you succeed?
LHS provides resources and support to enhance the quality of our students' academic experience and expand their post-graduate prospects. We strive to expose students to an abundance of career, graduate school and service opportunities to help them discern their summer and/or post-graduate plans. Additionally, we connect students to the appropriate networks that provide assistance where they may find difficulties. This may include tutoring, mentorship with graduate students in their interested disciplines, writing workshops and professional development. LHS is committed to developing customized plans with our members to ensure their academic success.
What is the Latino Scholars Conference?
The Latino Scholars Conference (LSC) is an opportunity for members to showcase their research to other students, faculty and scholars at the University level. Ultimately, members should strive to present their work at this conference at least once during their time in LHS to build valuable research and presentation skills and strengthen their resumes. We strongly encourage members writing a senior thesis or dissertation to submit their abstracts once the LSC calls for papers.
*The first LSC will take place in the Spring 2015 semester. More information will become available soon!
