Service Engagement

What is service engagement?

The pillar of service showcases essential qualities of compassion, dedication and leadership of all LHS members. The willingness to dedicate one’s own time for the benefit of others allows us to make a difference and unite as a community, both on and off campus.

What counts as service hours?

Service hours can be achieved in various ways, whether you decide to volunteer for a club event, mentor children in the community, or help out in your dorm. As long as you spend time enriching the lives of others, those hours can count towards service. We want our members to spend their time doing what they are passionate about! And if you are planning or are involved in an event, we will be more than happy to help spread the word to support you!

What is the service hour requirement for LHS?

Active Latino Honor Society members must participate in service activities on campus and/or in the South Bend/Mishawaka area. To fulfill the requirement for Honorary Status, you have the choice of completing either 5 cultural hours and 10 service hours OR 10 cultural hours and 5 service hours each semester. Please record your approved cultural engagement opportunities within one week of participation in the form by selecting the link below.
